This summer, Solopress CEO Aron Priest, cycled from the Provence region of France to the Alps over a period of seven days. The challenge saw him and his LLBcc friends cycle through many well-known Tour de France routes such as Mont Ventoux, Alp d’Huez and Criox de Fer. During the ride Aron cycled uphill in scorching temperatures.
By completing the challenge Aron has so far raised a staggering £1,964.67 for Havens Hospices (which incorporates Fair Havens and Little Havens Hospice).
Aron said,
“After many months and weeks organising, scrutinising itineraries and carefully packing equipment, I couldn’t believe the journey was finally starting. I was very eager and apprehensive about what was waiting for me when I got to the South of France. I climbed on and on as the kilometre markers slowly ticked by until the 1km marker was reached and the end was in sight.”
Aron added,
“The leg pain was temporarily forgotten when a break in the trees gifted me with a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and valley far below. The fast decent back into the valley and onward for the last climb of the day to Albiez-le-Jeune was brutal. The experience was the hardest but the relief and sense of achievement well over weighed the pain. I am a big supporter of Havens Hospices and I would like to thank everybody for their kind donations so far. Please keep donating as I try to hit my £2,000 target.”
Family, friends and colleagues have been supporting Aron on his JustGiving page and we also set up a social media campaign asking the public to upload a blast from the past snap of their favourite memory by using #alittlememory. This campaign raised an additional £500.

“As a keen cyclist myself when I heard about Aron’s challenge and the route he was taking, I knew he was in for a tough ride but he was very determined to complete it. I enjoyed following him on his blog and I would like to offer him my congratulations on completing the journey. Havens Hospices cares for seriously ill babies, children, teenagers and adults by controlling pain and medication, offering respite and caring at the end of their lives. All of that care is free of charge and is only possible thanks to people like Aron and everyone who has supported him.”
