What movie posters SHOULD say at the Oscars

Alternative poster of Despicable Me 2 - says 'Minions: And A Few Other Characters From The First Movie'

What if movie posters actually told the truth about the films they were advertising? Well folks, that’s exactly what the Internet – and Photoshoppers with too much time on their hands – are there for. Here’s what we REALLY will be watching clips of during the Oscars 2014 awards ceremony…

12 years a slave? More like 2 hours of shame, according to these Tinsletown troublemakers.

There’s more titillating, NSFW (Not-Suitable-For-Work) alternative versions of this movie poster available too – search on Google to find them.

Despicable Me 2

Yes, enough with Minions already. We get it, they’re cute – ditch baldy and give them their own movie.

Gravity

Houston, we have a problem… with credibility.

Sorry, but that new tagline of “Scarface for Douchebags” would still sell this brilliantly funny Martin Scorsese movie to me.

Have Your Say

What do YOU think of the alternative movie posters for these ‘Class of 2014’ Academy Award hopefuls? Are they too cruel or totally correct with their reality check on the movie studios’ original hyperbole? 1. Great Post ! I have read your other posts which are really informative for movie poster. Thanks for nice informative post.

  2. I know it’s a bit of a side step but Sylvester Stallone started in an aptly named film “bullet to the head” I managed ten minutes. All I can say is thank god for strict gun controls in the UK

  3. I love these alternative posters they make me smile. I would still go to see these movies despite what other people think of them.

  4. Hey and get this….. Not every movie starts out being called the movie we’ve come to know and love. In fact, it’s rather common for movies to have “working titles,” or titles that just ended up getting changed somewhere between conception and distribution. Take a look at http://www.nextmovie.com to see what E.T. was going to be called or Pretty Woman!

  5. Gotta say, I agree! But you do occasionally get films that go the other way….really mundane title but fantastic actual film!

  6. Fantastic idea, I would love to see some other “alternative” posters. The Hobbit 2 – pre-qual to The Hobbit 3

  7. Are the Minions this decade’s equivalent of the Crazy Frog….? My friend’s girlfriend has ‘Minions giggling’ as her text alert. Drives. Me. Mental.

  8. Love Scarface for Douche bags, not an Osca nomination but the new film Grudge Match with Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro has the tagline ‘A Rivalry 30 Years in the Making’ and possibly should read ‘ Grudge Match, A Hollywood Pension, 30 years in the Taking!’

  9. Aw c’mon! American Hustle is more than about the hair! Fab clothes, amazing soundtrack and superlative acting (ok, plot a little weak in places)! But hey it is easy to mock others achievements isn’t it!

  10. HAHAAAAAA I love these! The Gravity one is just brilliant! I rode a fire extinguisher once….it doesnt work! great blog post Rik 🙂

  11. Maybe a spin off…..’Movie posters with honest description of how good they are’?….

ALAN PARTRIDGE MOVIE – Lotta Crappa

  12. Ha, some of these are brilliant. I made some mock movie posters for a football fanzine once. Very clever.

  13. The minions one is spot on my five yr all skips the movie to watch the best minions bits, and has the soundtrack playing all the time. I’m minioned out to be honest
