With support from celebrity chefs including Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Masterchef winner Thomasina Miers, Too Good to Waste is looking to reduce the huge amount of food being discarded in London restaurants…
Did you know that for every meal eaten in a UK restaurant, nearly half a kilo of food is wasted? As well as the cost to the environment, this unbelievable waste is costing restaurants and diners a fortune. That’s the reason why the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) launched their Too Good to Waste campaign in London earlier this month. And guess who printed all the promotional materials for the SRA’s Too Good to Waste press launch – attended by foodie celebrities and journalists from the BBC and Evening Standard? That’s right, Solopress!

Not leaving your leftovers behind at the restaurant, by using the Too Good to Waste doggy box, means savings for your pocket and the planet. These special bio boxes are made of 100% recycled and biodegradable materials, making them suitable for recycling and composting – all of which minimises our environmental impact when out dining. Even the Too Good to Waste stickers used to seal the box are made from recycled materials.
“We want to see doggy boxes as much part of the dining experience here as doggy bags are in the US,” explains the Too Good to Waste website. “When you’ve ordered, enjoyed and paid for a meal, why leave half of it on the plate when you can take it home and enjoy it the next day?”
The SRA is a not-for-profit membership organisation helping restaurants become more sustainable and diners make more sustainable choices when eating out. The SRA Star Rating system means diners can choose a restaurant that matches their values.
Now you can carry home your tasty leftovers in sustainable style. So don’t forget to ask for a doggy box!
Excellent idea, happy to spread the word 🙂
Brilliant idea 🙂 food shouldn’t be wasted!
Another interesting article. Thanks! x
Super interesting and innovative! If only more companies where this vigilant. One doggy bag over here please Solopress 😉
Wow. I had no idea how much food was wasted!
I’ve often wondered why it’s not so common place to have a ‘doggy bag’ here as it is in the US. I always get one wherever I can, but I think some people feel too embarrassed to ask!
WHAT A GOOD IDEA. USA HAS DONE IT FOR YEARS. I CAN NEVER FINISH MY MEAL AND RATHER SHEEPISHLY PUT THE LEFTOVERS INTO A PLASTIC BAG UNDER THE TABALE SO THE WAITORS AND OTHER CUSTOMERS CANNOT SEE WHAT I’M DOING. I RATHER SUSPECT THEY ARE DOING THE SAME! WHY SHOULD WE NOT DO IT OPENLY AFTER ALL WE’VE PAID FOR IT!
Why would you not want a doggy box? And compostable or recyclable too! All restaurants should offer them.
I love this campaign and who could be better than Solopress to meet all the printing requirements!
Solopress does all the printing for us at http://www.HenCorner.com plus other charity work we’re involved with.
Fantastic!
