Think you can do better than Hershey’s controversial new logo design? Then you should enter 99designs’ community contest to reimagine The Hershey Company logo. Over 1500 designs have already been submitted!
When American chocolate giant Hershey’s proudly announced their new logo design last month, little did they know that the Interweb would quickly respond with a universal, derisive cry of… it looks like poo!
“A key element of the broad corporate brand makeover is a fresh, new company logo,” enthusiastically bubbled Hershey’s PR writers in the company’s official press release. “The updated logo is built around the globally recognisable Hershey logotype and the beloved KISSES icon, which is both simplified and activated as a symbol that represents the company’s promise of ‘Bringing Goodness to the World’.”
The response from the general public and chocoholics on Twitter? Less-than-flattering statements such as “New logo is poo”, “Just some blinking eyes away from being a poo emoji” and “Their agency really has sold them a steaming turd”.
Here is the new Hershey’s logo, placed next to the old design on the left for comparison. What do YOU think of it?
